2015 End of Year Review

Your financial support this past year through donations, your purchase of engraved bricks for our Walk of Fame, your purchases in the Museum Gift Shop, and your attendance at our events have made it possible for the Foundation to underwrite the cost of our major project of 2015—upgrading and repainting our rolling stock at the Museum.

The repainting of the 1910 Union Pacific caboose is now complete and was the venue for readings of the Polar Express at our recent Santa at the Museum event. The 1949 ATSF caboose is midway through a complete restoration now. The interior is being repaired and the entire car will be repainted so that it can be opened once again for public display. Simultaneously, the 1923 Union Oil tank car will be repainted.

Our primary project for this coming year leading up to the museum’s 50th anniversary is the restoration of the last of our planned rolling stock, our 1913 wooden boxcar. This will be the most complex and most expensive of our restoration projects.

Can you help us make sure it happens?

Your donations and membership renewal in the Friends of Lomita Railroad Museum are essential to our being able to accomplish this. Only with your assistance can we accomplish our restorations and other museum projects. Only with your support can we ensure that our museum continues to be where children and adults can have firsthand experience with railroading of the steam era.

Please show how much you care about the Lomita Railroad Museum by mailing us your donation along with the enclosed form or download it from our website. Or, if you prefer, show your support by making your contribution online via PayPal on our website.

It’s only through the generosity of friends like you that we can complete our railroad car restoration project and continue our efforts to update our museum displays. And it’s only with your help that we can ensure that the museum continues for the next 50 years to be the extraordinary resource it is. Every dollar you contribute goes directly to this worthy cause.

We sincerely thank you and all of our supporters for helping make this possible!

Thank you!
